Answer:

We can take an example of nylon

Synthetic are derived from petrochemicals.

So, Items- 1) A stand with an hook attached with a clamp.

2)A nylon and cotton thread of similar thickness

3)A pan attached with both threads.

                 4)Weights (example-20 g,50 g even 500 g based on thickness)

                 5)A notepad to record observations.

Experiment- On the pans place from the last g for accurate observations.

So, example when we test 20 g on an cotton it is going to break and nylon can hold maybe even 1 kg or even 1 1/2 kg it depend on the thickness.

Conclusion from my observations is that nylon is more stronger than natural fibres so they have monomers that have cross linking.

Synthetic fibres are indeed stronger than cotton fibres, and this can be proven by a simple experiment done at home.

Explanation:

  • Take 3 strands of cotton as well as synthetic fibres. Keep the three strands of synthetic fibres separate and the cotton fibres separate.
  • Wet the cotton and synthetic fibres. Now take the cotton fibres one by one at hand and try to pull them hard. The cotton fibres would tear off easily.
  • Do the same with the synthetic fibres, but you will find they will not tear. This proves that synthetic fibres are more strong than cotton fibres.
