Given: three vectors 7N along the positive x-axis, 5N making an angle of 35o with the x-axis, and 3N, 36o South of West.

To find: the resultant of the given vector through the component method

Solution: Let A be the 7N force along the positive x-axis, B be the 5N force making an angle of 35o with the x-axis, C be the 3N force 36o South of West.

Taking the components of all the forces as

Ax= 7N, Ay= 0

Bx= 5cos 35°= 4.1N, By= 5sin35°= 2.9N

Cx= -3cos36°= -2.4N

Cy= -3sun36° = -1.8N

Now resultant force in the x direction will be

Rx= Ax+Bx+Cx= 9.5N

resultant in the y direction will be

Ry= Ay+ By+ Cy= 1.1N

Net resultant force will be R= √(Rx^2+ Ry^2)= 9.6N

resultant of all the three vectors will be 9.6N.
