The square of 43 using the contributive law is as follows

43

= 40 + 3

43² = (40 + 3)²

we use the formula,

(a + b)² = a² + b² + 2ab

(40 + 3)² = 40² + 3² + 2 × 40 × 3

= 1600 + 9 + 240

= 1849

⇒ (40 + 3)² = 1849

∴ 43² = 1849
