A number is said to be divisible by 6 if that number is divisible by 2 and 3.

For answering this, follow this procedure:

1. Is 156 divisible by 2? For a number to be divisible by 2, it should be even number and clearly 156 is even. So this condition is satisfied. Note: If number has to be divisible by 6, it has to be even. If it is odd, then by no chance it is divisible by 6.
2. Is 156 divisible by 3? For a number to be divisible by 3, the sum of digits should be divisible by 3. so: 1+5+6=12 which is 12 which is divisible by 3 and hence condition satisfied.

From 1 and 2, we can say that 156 is divisible by 6.
