is easy to pull an object than to push it.

Diagram .

Pulling is easier than pushing as there is less normal reaction and hence there is less friction in case of pull . Friction has to be taken into consideration while we are studying the push and the pull of the body .

For a short object, it is easier to pull than push !

Let see the physics of this problem :

  • First of all, the friction on an object is expressed as :

f =  \mu \times N

 \boxed{ \implies f =  \mu \times (mg)}

  • Now, when a short object is being pulled, a component of pull (i.e. sine component) reduces the normal force (N) on the object.

  • The new value of N becomes mg - F\sin(\theta)

So, new friction becomes :

 \boxed{ \implies f_{new}  =  \mu \times  \{mg - F \sin( \theta)  \}}

 \boxed{ \implies f_{new}  < f}

So, when we are pulling , the friction is getting reduced making it easier to move the body.
