- s = Distance
- a = acceleration
- u = initial velocity
- v = final velocity
- t = time taken
★Dist. travelled by object = Area of trapezium ABDO
s = 1/2 ( sum of parallel sides ) × height
s = 1/2 ( BD + AO ) × OD
BD + AO = v + u and OD = t . Substituting the values in the above relations,we get
s = 1/2 ( v + u ) × t
From first equation of motion: v = u + at
⇒ at = v - u
⇒ t = v - u / t
Now, Putting the value of t ,we get :
s = 1/2 ( v + u ) × ( v - u / a )
2as = v² - u² [ ( v + u ) ( v - u ) = v² - u² ]
