Solids have a definite shape and volume.

Solids are used where we need something to keep it's shape or to support something.
This is because they have a fixed shape and remain in the same place where they are kept. They generally can't be compressed.

Solids are usually hard since their particles are closely packed together. Closer the particle , harder is the substance.

Particles of a solid cannot move much. This is one of it's physical characteristic. As the intermolecular space is very less , they have a solid shape.

Thanks!!
