Hey friend,
Here is the answer you were looking for:
104 \times 96 \\ \\ we \: can \: write \: it \: as \\ \\ (100 + 4) \times (100 - 4) \\ \\ = (100 + 4)(100 - 4) \\ \\ using \: the \: identity \\ \\ (a + b)(a - b) = {a}^{2} - {b}^{2} \\ \\ (100 + 4)(100 - 4) \\ \\ = {(100)}^{2} - {(4)}^{2} \\ \\ = 10000 - 16 \\ \\ = 9984

Hope this helps!!!
