Answer:

√2=1.4 and √3=1.7

square root of 12 = 3.4

square root of 18 = 4.2

Step-by-step explanation:

Refer attached image for value of square root 2 and square root 3.

 \sqrt{12 } = \sqrt{4 \times 3 } \\ \: \: \: \: = 2 \sqrt{3 } \\ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = 2 \times 1.7 \\ = 3.4

 \sqrt{18} \: = \sqrt{9 \times 2} \\ \: \: \: \: = 3 \sqrt{2} \\ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = 3 \times 1.4 \\ = 4.2

The Values of √12 = 3.4 and √18 = 4.2.

Solution:

To calculate the square root of any number, we make use of the Long Division Method. Following are the steps to perform the calculations:

  1. First, write the number in the place of the dividend in our natural division form.
  2. Now, the process here is that when you take a divisor that is less than the dividend, but this time we will have to subtract the square of your divisor from the dividend.
  3. And for our convenience we will take 2 as 2.00 and 3 as 3.00 i.e., make even pairs of zero.
  4. Once we perform this operation, it is a must to take the quotient to the unit's place of our divisor and add the same number to it to make the next divisor and we will subtract their multiplication to proceed further.
  5. In this fashion, we will get our answer.
  6. It will get more clear once we apply the steps as follows:

So, we have to calculate the square root of 2 and the square root of 3.

Now, We can calculate the square roots of 12 and 18 with help of square roots of 3 and 2 by simplifying the equations as follows;

      ⇒ √12                          and               ⇒ √18

         = √(4 × 3)                                            = √(9 × 2)

         = 2 × √3                                              = 3 × √2

         = 2 × 1.7                                               = 3 × 1.4

         = 3.4                                                    = 4.2

Therefore, the values of √12 and √18 are 3.4 and 4.2 respectively.
