Manures
----------------------------------------------------------

Manures are not soluble in water, so they are not easily absorbed by the roots of the plants.

These are organic substances.

They are not nutrient specific.

These are bulky and hence difficult to store and transport.

Excessive use does not harm the soil texture, they provide humus to the soil.

They restore the soil texture and help in water retention.

Fertilisers
---------------------------------------------------------

Fertilisers are soluble in water and are absorbed by the plants easily.

These are inorganic substances.

These are nutrient specific.

These are in powered form hence are not bulky and can be easily stored and transported.

Excessive use can change the chemical composition of the soil and also pollute water.

They may damage the soil texture and make it more porous.
