The distance can be measured by measuring the parallax angle θ. It is subtended by the distant astronomical object at the two locations on the earth separated distance b. Thus, θ= b/d
where d be the measuring distance.

1) Let the moon (or planet) be O viewed from point of observation which is at distance of r, making an angle θ
between the two point of observation.
2) The angel θ cause by the two line drawen from the position of the two point of observation to the object is called angle of parallax.
3) If we can consider OA and OB as radius of a circle and the distance x or AB as arc.
4)By knowing the values of x and θ,the distance of the object from the point of observation can be found out.
