According to factor theorem, when f(x) is divided by (2x+1), f( 2−1 )=0

f(x)=4x 3 +4x 2 −x−1

f( 2−1 )

=4( 2−1 )

3+4( 2−1 )

2 −( 2−1 )−1

=4× 8−1 +4× 41 + 21 −1

= 2−1+1+ 21 −1=0

∵f( 2−1 )=0,(2x+1) is a factor of the polynomial.
