The Length of the Diagonal BD is approx 9.7 cm.

  • Rhombus is a quadrilateral having 4 equal sides.
  • It can be visually imagined to be a diamond.
  • To construct a rhombus using ruler and compass, firstly, draw a straight horizontal line.
  • Given AC length is 7 cm and hence measure 7 cm on the compass with the help of the ruler.
  • As each side of the rhombus measures 6 cm, Now, measure 6 cm in the compass and place it on the two ends of the line segment AC. Cut 2 arcs of radius 6 cm above and below the AC line to get 2 intersecting points.
  • Now join the intersecting point with the ends of the line segment to get a rhombus.
  • On joining the two intersecting points,we get the Length of the Diagonal BD to be 9.7 cm in this problem.

Rhombus ABCD is constructed , BD ≈ 9.7 / 9.8 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1 : Draw a line segment AB = 6 cm using ruler

Step 2 : Taking compass width = 6 cm and B as center draw an arc

Step 3 : Taking compass width = 7 cm and A as center draw an arc such that intersect arc drawn in step 2 at C

Step 4 : Join BC

Step 5 : Taking compass width = 6 cm and C as center draw an arc

Step 6 : Taking compass width = 6 cm and A as center draw an arc such that intersect arc drawn in step 5 at D

Step 7 : join AD  & CD
