(100+9)(100+8)

100^2+100(9+8)+(9)(8)

10000+(100×17)+72

10000+1700+72

11,772

IDENTITY:-(X+a)(x+b)=x^2+x(a+b)+ab

Using Identity (X+a)(X+b)=

X^2+(a+b)X+ab.

We can break 107 as (100+7)

Again,98 as (100-2)

Here,

X=100

a=7

b=-2

so Now,

(100+7)(100-2)

=100^2+[(7+(-2)]100 +7×(-2)

=10000+5×100-14

= 500+9,986

=10,486
