LET THE VALUE OF LENGTH =X

LET THE VALUE OF BREATH =Y

X-Y=2

X=Y+2

PERIMETER =2[X+Y]

=2(X+X+2)

2(2X+2)

4X+4=20

4X=16

X=4

Y=X+2=4+2=6

THE VALUE OF LENGTH =4

THE VALUE OF BREATH =6

Solution

Given:-

  • difference between the length and breadth of rectangle is 2.
  • perimeter of rectangle is 20m

Find:-

  • Length & breath of rectangle .

Explanation

Important Formula

Perimeter of rectangle = 2×[Length + Breadth ]

Let,

  • Length = L
  • Breadth = B

So, A/c to question,

(difference between the length and breadth of rectangle is 2)

==> L - B = 2------------------equ(1)

And,

(perimeter of rectangle is 20m)

==> perimeter of rectangle = 20

==> 2×[Length + Breadth ] = 20

==> 2 × [L + B ] = 20

==> L + B = 20/2

==> L + B = 10---------------equ(2)

Add equation (1) & equation (2)

==> 2L = 12

==> L = 12/2

==> L = 6 .

Keep value of L in equation (1),

==> 6 - B = 2

==> B = 6 -2

==> B = 4

Hence

  • Length of rectangle = 6 m
  • Breadth of rectangle = 4 m

Verification Of Answer

(perimeter of rectangle is 20m)

==>perimeter of rectangle = 20

==> 2 × [ L + B ] = 20

Keep value of length(L) & Breadth (B)

==> 2 × [ 4 + 6 ] = 20

==> 2 × 10 = 20

==> 20 = 20

L.H.S. = R.H.S.

That's proved.
