There are three kidneys in the body of a person who has undergone kidney transplantation.

Kidney transplantation is done in a person when the kidney's do not function properly. The kidney is taken from a donor who is dead or alive.

The kidneys are transplanted only after MHC tests are done. The transplanted kidney is placed in the body lower belly on the front side of the body.

Veins from older or diseased kidney are cut and joined with the new kidney. Diseased kidney remains in the body remaining unfunctional.

Thus, there are three kidneys in the body after transplantation.
