August 2020(for Haryana and Maharashtra) regarding schedule and guidelines for Special Summary
revision of electoral rolls with reference to 0 1.01.2021 as the qualifying date and to state that as per the
existing instructions all the polling stations with electors beyond 1,500 are to be rationalized before the draft
publication of electoral rolls in connection with Summary Revision. j
As one of the precautionary measures of Covid-19 pandemic the limit of number of electors
assigned to a polling station has been restricted to 1,000 in the State of Bihar and ertain constituencies of
other States where general and bye-elections are due in near future. For this purpos;I these States have been
asked to create auxiliary polling stations of all the main polling stations having mor1 than 1,000 electors, as
rationalization of polling station could not be undertaken in such constituencies owing to completion of
summary revision 2020 in these States, where general election/bye elections are to blconducted on the basis
of electoral roll finalized with reference to O 1.01.2020 as the qualifying date.
The Commission, taking all aspects into consideration, has decided t at rationalization/reorganization of polling stations, as the case may be, would be carried out in all States/UTs on the basis
of 1,500 electors as maximum number for a polling station.
