The traits of a good breed of cow are-

• DISEASE RESISTANCE- This means that the breed should not be disease prone. It should have good disease-resistance capacity and in case of any disease it should recover very fast.
• LOW MAINTENANCE- Which means there should not be very costly demands in order to meet the maintenance requirements of the breed, it should be low maintenance and should have superior grazing abilities.
• HIGH FERTILITY- They should have high fertility rate and should produce disease free and healthy offspring.
• LOWER RATE OF DYSTOCIA- Which means they should be able to crossbreed with other dairy and beef breeds in order to decrease calving related injuries.
