Different resources have different uses in different places in different times. for example. Clay in East Africa in ancient times was used for making pots, today is used for making bricks.
Water as a resource is used for irrigation in settlement schemes. Once you go to different area, its used for sporting activities.
Iron ore was used for making crude weapons in ancient days, these days its used for making different commodities.
