The Uttara Karnataka issue was raised in the raised in the Karnataka state's Winter session of the legislative assembly that was held at Belgaum. The issue was regarding the lack of infrastructure and negligence of the government towards the North Karnataka regions.

Due to this issue, people started selling their products by establishing a new market in the neighboring states. This led to a limited availability of the product in the native places.

Another action taken was that the fruits were plucked off from the trees before they could ripe and the trees were cut down to stop the ripening. This is because the people themselves wanted to have an upper hand in the upage of the fruit prices and they did not want someone else to sell their harvest first.

However, both these steps led to adverse consequences about which they had not anticipated.
