Answer:

A foolish friend is worse than a wise enemy.

Explanation- A wise enemy will always make you stay alert, he'll always be a competition for you and in order to surpass him you'll eventually result in becoming more wiser than him. A wise enemy will always speak truth about you on your face whether you like it or not, which will help you to overcome your weaknesses.

But as far as foolish friend is concerned, he'll not take anything seriously but will rather be dependent on you all the time and will sometimes result in your deterioration. He'll always try to comfort you with a lie in order to please you always. And as he is you friend, he may know many things about you which he can reveal to others without thinking about the consequences.

There's a saying “Hurt me with the truth but never comfort me with a lie” ~Anonymous
