Answer:

6600

Step-by-step explanation:

a7 = a + 6d

     = 5000 + 13200

     = 18200

 a4 = a + 3d

    = 5000 + 6600

    = 11600

   18200 – 11600

   = 6600

Q- The production of TV sets in a factory increases uniformly by a fixed number every year. It produced 16000 sets in the 6th year and 22600 sets in the 9th year. Find the difference in the production during the 7th year and 4th year.

Given,

The number of TV sets sold in the 6th year = 16000

The number of TV sets sold in the 9th year = 22600

To Find,

The difference in the production during the 7th year and the 4th year =?

Solution,

From the formula of the nth term in the AP, We know that

a_n = a + (n-1)d

For the 6th term,

a_6 = a + (6-1) d= a + 5d

Similarly, for the 9th term,

a_9 = a +(9-1)d = a + 8d

Subtracting both of them, we get

a + 8d - a - 5d = 22600 - 16000

3d = 6600

d = 2200

For 4th term = a + 3d

For 7th term = a + 6d

The difference between the  4th and 7th term = a +6d - a -3d

The difference between the 4th and 7th term = 3d = 3* 2200

The difference between the 4th and 7th term = 6600

Hence,  the difference in the production during the 7th year and 4th year is 6600. Option(b) is the correct answer.
