Here v is the speed of sound in water , d is the distance of enemy submarine and t is the time.

Given,

v = 1460 m/s , t = 80 sec

∴ d = vt/2 = 1460 × 80/2 = 1460 × 40 = 58400 m = 58.4 km

Hence , distance of enemy submarine = 58.4 km
