Answer:

Let smaller number be x

Bigger number will be x+2

x(x+2)=x²+12

x²+2x=x²+12

x²and x² cancell out

2x=12

x=12÷2

x=6

x+2=8

Therefore the two numbers are 6 and 8

Verification:

6×8=6²+12

48=48
