(a) Odour : Acetic acid has a pungent smell because it is a monocarboxylic acid i.e, has only one 'COOH' group.

(b) Solubility in water : FULLY MISCIBLE- Acetic acid is extremely soluble in water, but most of the dissolved compound remains as molecules, rendering it a weak electrolyte.

(c) Effect on litmus : It turns blue litmus paper red, indicating that it is acidic in nature.

(d) Reaction with sodium bicarbonate : The reaction between sodium bicarbonate and acetic acid will produce aqueous sodium acetate, water, and carbon dioxide

NaHCO3(aq) + CH3COOH(aq) ----> CH3COONa(aq) + H2O(l) + CO2(g)
