Answer:

The most commonly used definition of the English word “sky” simply refers to anything you see when looking up, including atmospheric phenomenon and things outside of our atmosphere. “Sky” and “atmosphere” are not ordinarily synonyms as some of the other answers imply. Stars are in the sky, as well as clouds.

“Space” is anything outside of the atmosphere. In the night time on a clear night, the view of the sky is dominated by things in space - planets and stars. On a cloudy night or in the day time, few objects in space may be visible, in which case the view of the sky is dominated by things in our atmosphere - clouds, or the typical blue color of the clear atmosphere.
