Humans still have canine teeth, 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom- much like other animals do. Our hunter-gatherer ancestors’ diets were very different from ours now, but we still use our canine teeth, also known as eye teeth, to grip and tear through our food.

Canines may also be called fangs or cuspids and are found in many predatory animals- tigers, bear- as they rely on the teeth to tear through meat. Without them, we’d all find it very hard to bite into our food.
