The Vijayanagara Empire (also called Karnataka Empire) was based in the Deccan Plateau region in South India. It was established in 1336 by the brothers Harihara I and Bukka Raya I of the Sangama dynasty for protecting hindu religion. Harihara I and Bukka Raya I were even the officers of Muhammad bin Tughlaq who rebelled him. Founding Vijaynagar empire they kept the empire's motto as 'protect the good and punish the bad. The empire was ended by those 5 deccan Sultanates Ahmadnagar, Berar, Bidar, Bijapur, and Golconda.
