ii.But , unlike Oxygen nitrogen cannot be used directly by animals or plants.

iii.Nitrogen should be converted into Nitrates ( NO3) and nitrites ( NO2) .

iv. This atmospheric nitrogen is converted into Nitrates (NO3) and nitrites (NO2) by a process - Nitrogen Cycle .

v. Nitrogen can be converted into these nitrogenous compounds [( NO3)(NO2)] by atmospheric, biological and industrial means.

vi.Once converted, plants absorb these nitrogenous compounds ; which are needed for there protein building .

vii. When animals cosume plants these compounds ( nitrogenous) are absorbed by animals.

Therefore , Even though nitrogen is present in ample amounts in the atmosphere; animals get nitrogen ( in the form of nitrogenous compounds) from plants
