Vachan Prerna Divas

15th October, 2016

‘Vachan Prerna Divas’ or Reading Day was celebrated on 15th October, 2016 to pay homage to our former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam who loved reading and writing. This day is observed so that children understand the importance of reading and are encouraged to develop it as a hobby.

The event started with a prayer service on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in English by Ms.Shiela Ajay and information on the importance of reading was given in three languages (Marathi, English and Hindi) by Ms.Daya Shingre.

A PowerPoint Presentation on the life history of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was shown to the students. A video on his message delivered at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, during the golden jubilee of the European Union was shown. As part of the reading activity all students were made to read ‘Song Of Youth’ written by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Examples of ten voracious reader who became Great Leaders in future were shown to the students. A special Video was shown to the students on the ‘Importance of books’ in our life.

Abdul Kalam’s Quotes were displayed and students were motivated to memorize it by heart.

Students were given books to read. Our Principal Rev.Fr.Sabu Thomas went personally to class and interacted with the students and tested their knowledge.

Charts on English, Marathi and Hindi authors were displayed on the bulletin boards.

Students were made to read books. The following students who read maximum number of books from the school library during this academic year were given prizes.
