A civilization is a society in an advanced state of social development (e.g., with complex legal and political and religious organizations). In short, civilization is and advance state of human society --- the sum of cultures, science, industry, and government. So, you can have several cultures in one civilization.

The role of culture and civilization in Value education:

  • An individual is a social animal and culture of the society has a big influence on the individual. The beliefs and traditions form the culture of the society.  
  • Civilization refers to the physical development of the society. It forms the structure of the society where the individual lives.  
  • All of these have a certain worth which adds value to the mind and education of the individual.
  • An individual belongs to a society that is civilized and has a framework of culture and values which add to the development of a person and shapes the behaviour of the society where the individual lives.  
  • Culture helps in molding the thinking pattern and traditions of society.
