Solution:

aⁿ = 1/ a⁻ⁿ

(a/b)ⁿ = (b/a)⁻ⁿ

(a/b)ⁿ  = aⁿ/bⁿ

-1 raised to power odd number = - 1

-1 raised to power even number =  1

=> ( -3/8)⁻³  =  ( - 8/3)³

= - 8³/3³

= - 512/27

(4/9)⁻²  = (9/4)²

= 9²/4²

= 81/16

( -3/8)⁻³  x   (4/9)⁻²

= (- 512/27 ) x  (81/16)

=   -32 x  3

= - 96

( -3/8)⁻³  x   (4/9)⁻² = -96
