Taking α be the value of association which is 60% = 0.6 and for dimerization 40% = 0.4 then using the formulae we get.

Vant hoff factor i=2-α/2 = 2- 0.4/2 = 0.8 for dimerization.

For association we know α= i-1/ (1/n -1) .

0.6= i - 1 / (1/2 - 1 ).

i = 6/10 - 1/2.

Vant hoff factor i = 0.1 for association .
