we have

x-y = 5 -----------------------(ii)
by solving Equation (i) and equation (ii)
x = 13 - y
putting in equation (ii)
13 - y - y = 5
13 - 2y = 5
-2y = 5 - 13
-2y = -8
y = 4
now,
x = 13 - 4 = 9
So, the value of x = 9 and y = 4.
