Logarithms are a way of showing how big a number is in terms of how many times you have to multiply a certain number (called the base) to get it. If you are using 2 as your base, then a logarithm means "how many times do I have to multiply 2 to get to this number......

mark as brilliant and follow me.......

Answer:

  • Logarithms are a way of showing how big a number is in terms of how many times you have to multiply a certain number (called the base) to get it. If you are using 2 as your base, then a logarithm means "how many times do I have to multiply 2 to get to this number?".
  • A logarithm is the power to which a number must be raised in order to get some other number (see Section 3 of this Math Review for more about exponents). For example, the base ten logarithm of 100 is 2, because ten raised to the power of two is 100: log 100 = 2.
  • Natural Logarithms: Base "e"
  • Another base that is often used is e (Euler's Number) which is about 2.71828. This is called a "natural logarithm". Mathematicians use this one a lot. On a calculator it is the "ln" button.
