i = van't hoff factor = number of ions each molecule of solute dissociates

Al2 (SO4) 3(s)---- >> 2Al3+ (aq) +3SO42 (aq)

Thus the totral number of ions in the solution is 5 so the van't hoff factor for  Al2 (SO4) 3 is 5

Answer:

The van't Hoff factor of Al_2(SO_4)_3 is 5

Explanation:

The vant hoff factor is equal to number of ions produced from one molecule of the solute on dissociation in solvent.

The van't Hoff factor of Al_2(SO_4)_3 is 5

Al_2(SO_4)_3\rightarrow 2AL^{3+}+3SO_4^{2-}

On dissociation the 2 ions of aluminum and 3 ions of sulfate ions are formed. Hence total ions are 5.
