Vande Mataram was first sung by Rabindranath Tagore at the Congress session in 1896 IN Calcutta. It was written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhay. The congress session of 1896 in Calcutta was held in Beadon Square. Again in the session of 1901 Dhakina Charan Sen sang the song.  Sarala Devi Chaudhari sang the Vande Matarm song in the Benaras session of congress in 1905.
