we have to molar mass of a gas if vapour density of the gas with respect to oxygen is 1.5.
solution : vapor density of the gas with respect to oxygen = vapor density of the gas/vapor density of oxygen
we know, molar mass of a gas = 2 × vapour density of that gas.
∴ vapor density of the gas with respect to oxygen = vapor density of the gas/vapor density of oxygen = molar mass of the gas/molar mass of oxygen
∵ molar mass of oxygen = 32 g/mol
and the vapor density of the gas with respect to oxygen is 1.5
∵ 1.5 = molar mass of the gas/32
⇒ molar mass of the gas = 48 g/mol
therefore the molar mass of the gas is 48 g/mol.
