Solution:

Let say center = O

a point 10 cm away = P

=> OP = 10 cm

Tangent drawn = PA  = 8 cm

∠OAP = 90°

=>   OP² = PA² + OA²

OA = Radius

=> 10² = 8² + OA²

=> 6² = OA²

=> OA = 6  

radius of the circle = 6 cm
