Answer: Inheritance of a character corresponds to the transmission of the of the gene related to that character from parent to their next generation that in their offsprings.
Variation can be described as change in the genome sequence of an organism that is reflected by change in the phenotype ( morphological form) of the organism. There can be various sources of variation like mutation, error in the process of replication etc.
Therefore, through inheritance of character, variation are seen in the form of altered phenotype.
