Variatios do not protect indiviuals but they are advantageous to populations .they enhance the survival of species .Over time ,the variations increase leading to the creation of new species .The variation caused during reproducation forms the basis for evolution . so ,they speed up the process of evolution .

Hope it helps.

Answer:

Variation is very beneficial for the species to survive. As time period pass, variation can be the reason for the survival of the organism. Variation means to change adapt to the surrounding changes. It enhance the chances of survival.

Explanation:

Variations includes change in physical appearance, metabolism and fertility. To change according to the environment is good for the survival of the fittest. Variation can include genotypic variation and phenotypic variation.

For Example: In an ecosystem, population of an organism use the ability to reproduce. If the climatic conditions of the place changes due to global warming or flood, the temperature seems to be increased. In such a condition, if few of the organism die, but few of them survive due to heat resistant variant and they will grow further. Thus, the variation to become heat resistant was the reason for the survival.
