Various types of transport mechanisms are needed to fulfil the mineral requirements of a plant. Why are they not fullfiled by diffusion alone?

The greater the surface area to volume ratio the better for diffusion. The bigger the organism is, the further the minerals have to travel, so it’s not effective or efficient
