Vardamana,he is also known as mahaveera.he is the 24th THIRTHANKARA who revived jainism.he expounded the spiritual,philosophical and ethical teachings of previous teachingsfrom the remote pre-vedic era.in jain tradition it is the belief that mahaveera was born in the early part of the 6th century BC in to a royal KSHATHRIYA jain family present day BIHAR,INDIA.He abandoned all wordly possessions at the age of 30 and left home in pursuit of SPRITUAL AWAKENING,becoming an ASCETIC.Mahaveera practiced intense meditation and severe austerities for 12years after which he is believed to have attained KEVALA JNANA (omniscience).He preached for 30years and is believed by jains to have attained moksha in the 6th centuryBC,although the year varies by SECT.
