Given :  Varun spent Rs. 9 lakh on purchasing and altering his new car. He spent 7% on speakers and woofers, 5% on alloy wheels, 2% on insurance, 4% on repainting, 9% on interiors and the remaining was the actual cost of the car.

To find :  Amount of Road Tax

Solution:

Total Amount Spent  = 900000  Rs  ( 9 lakh)

Spent on Speaker  = 7 %

Alloy = 5 %

Insurance = 2 %

Repainting = 4 %

Interiors = 9 %

Total  = 7 + 5 + 2 + 4 + 9  = 27 %

Remaining Cost = Actual Cost of Car =  900000 - (27/100)900000

= 900000 - 243000

= 657000  Rs

actual cost of the car includes 10 % Road tax

Car cost before Road Tax  =   C

10 % Road Tax  = (10/100)C  = 0.1C

C + 0.1C  = 657000

=> 1.1C = 657000

=> C = 5,97,272.73

0.1C  = 59727 . 27  Rs

= 59727 Rs

amount of Road Tax  = Rs 59727 Rs
