Answer:

The minimum area of gift wrappers needed to pack the two boxes

= 2866 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Cubical box side length = 14 cm

            Cuboidal box size = 31 cm x 11cm x 12 cm

Solution : The minimum area = Total surface area of cube + Total surface

                                                                                                 area of Cuboid

Total surface area of cube = 6 x side²

                                            = 6 x 14²

                                            = 6 x 196

                                            = 1176 cm²

Total surface of cuboid = 2 x (LB + BH + LH)

                                      = 2 (31x11 + 11x12 + 31x12)

                                      = 2 x ( 341 + 132 + 372)

                                      = 2 x 845

                                     = 1690 cm²

The minimum area of gift wrappers needed to pack the two boxes = 1176 +

                                                                                                                  1690

                                                                                                          = 2866 cm²
