Average speed is given by :- v = total distance travelled/total time taken.

Time taken to walk 30m east with velocity 2m/s is :- t = d/s => 15s

Time taken to walk 40m north with velocity 3/2m/s is :-t = d/s = 80/3s

Average speed = 70/(15+80/3) => 42/25 or 1.68m/s

Average velocity is given by :- total Displacement/total time taken.

Displacement = s = v302+40² = 50

Total time = 125/3

Average velocity = 50/125/3 => 6/5 or 1.2m/s
