∵ speed = distance covered by body/time taken
Given , distance = (40 ± 0.4) m
time = (5 ± 0.6) m
∴ speed = distance/time = 40/5 = 8m/s
Now, for finding error in speed , use formula
∆v/v = ∆s/s + ∆t/t
For Percentage error ,
% in speed = 100(∆s/s + ∆t/t)
Here, v, s , t are represented speed , distance and time respectively.
Given,
∆s = 0.4m , ∆t = 0.6sec , s = 40m and t = 5 sec
∴ % in speed = 100(0.4/40 + 0.6/5)
= 100(0.01 + 0.12)
=100 × 0.13
= 13 %
