Ved spends 40% of his prize money. He spends the money in the following ratio:

Clothes : Books : Music CDs = 10 : 2 : 3

a) If Ved sold the books at a profit of 5%, then find the selling price of the books.

Juhi invested the money in ‘XYZ’ Bank for a year and got Rs.6480 at the end of the year.

b) Calculate the increase percent in her money

(a) ₹336

steps : Ved got 18000/3 = 6000 rupees

from that he spend 40 % means ₹6000 of 40% = ₹2400

ATQ : let the ratio be 10x + 2x + 3x

=> 10x + 2x + 3x = 2400

=> 15x = 2400

=> x = 2400/15

=> x = 160

=> 10*160 = ₹1600

=> 2*160 = ₹320

=> 3*160 = ₹480

we want profit of 5% after sold the book :

₹ 320 of 5% = ₹16

= ₹320 + ₹16 = ₹336
