5 curtains = 5×4.25 = 21.25 mts

remaining = 23.50- 21.25 = 2.25 mts

Total length of cloth = 23.50 m
No. of curtains = 5
Cloth required for making 1 curtain = 4.25 m
According to question,
All curtains are of equal size
So, cloth required for 5 curtains =
Cloth required for making 5 curtains ×no. of curtains
=4.25×5
=21.25 m
Left over cloth = total length of cloth - used cloth
= (23.50 - 21.25)m
= 2.25 m
