the outer dimension of a jewellery box made of wood are 20cm × 16cm × 8cm the thickness of wood is 1cm.

1cm cube of wood costs rs2.50

To find :  the total cost of wood required to make the box

Solution :

jewellery box made of wood are 20cm × 16cm × 8cm

Outer dimensions = 20 x 16 x 8

Outer Volume = 20 x 16 x 8

= 2560 cm³

Thickness = 1 cm

Thickness  is all side

Hence Inner dimensions =  18 x 14 x 6

Inner Volume = 1,512 cm³

Volume of wood =  2560  - 1512  = 1048   cm³

1  cm³   wood costs rs 2.50

=> 1048   cm³ wood costs = 1048 x 2.5

total cost of wood required to make the box  = rs 2620
